Acceptable use policy
The rules for using Emitt. They protect you, other customers and the service. Last updated 30 September 2026.
Draft under review. It describes how we work today and may be reworded before it's final.
What you must not do
You and your users must not use the service to:
- break any law, or infringe anyone's rights, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
- access, or try to access, another customer's data, or any account, system or data you're not authorised to use;
- upload malware, or anything designed to disrupt, damage or gain unauthorised access to a system;
- overload the service, including through automated scraping or excessive requests, or get around limits we set;
- copy, reverse engineer or decompile the service, except to the extent the law allows despite this restriction;
- resell, sublicense or provide the service to third parties unless your order form allows it;
- share sign-in credentials, or let anyone use the service who isn't one of your authorised users.
Data you upload
- Only upload data you have the right to use and share with us.
- Don't upload sensitive information, such as health information, or payment card details. The service doesn't need them.
- Keep personal information in uploads to what your reporting needs.
Using figures and reports
Don't present figures or reports from the service as assured, certified or verified by Emitt, or as a regulatory filing made by us. They are calculated from your data, and you're responsible for what you disclose.
Security testing
Don't run penetration tests, vulnerability scans or load tests against the service without our written agreement. If you'd like to test, email [email protected] and we'll agree the scope. If you find a vulnerability, report it as our security page describes.
If the policy is broken
We may remove content, or suspend a user or an organisation's access, as our Terms of Service describe. We'll tell you first where we reasonably can, and give you the chance to fix the problem unless it's urgent or serious. To report misuse, email [email protected].
